How far apart should fence posts be?
Standard spacing is 8 feet for most wood fences. Some prefer 6 feet for extra strength, especially in high-wind areas.
How deep should fence posts be set?
Posts should be buried at least 2 feet deep, or 1/3 of the total post length. Posts for 6-foot fences should use 8-foot posts.
How many rails do I need per section?
Two rails is standard for fences up to 5 feet. Three rails is recommended for 6-foot and taller fences.
