How much is the EV tax credit?

Up to $7,500 for new EVs and up to $4,000 (or 30% of sale price, whichever is less) for used EVs. The credit may be split into two $3,750 components based on battery sourcing requirements.

Can I get the credit at the dealership?

Yes. Starting 2024, you can transfer the credit to the dealer as a point-of-sale discount instead of waiting for your tax return.

What are the income limits?

New EVs: $150,000 AGI (single) or $300,000 (MFJ). Used EVs: $75,000 (single) or $150,000 (MFJ). Based on the lesser of current or prior year AGI.
